PS Vita test
Despite the overwhelming success of the Nintendo DS worldwide, the PSP is still sold well over the years. So it's no surprise that Sony now offers its successor, the PlayStation Vita. Widescreen OLED and touch, great graphics power, 2 analog sticks and a target more "gamer" than ever, the Vita is well equipped to take over from the PSP and fight against the competition of the game on smartphone.
PS Vita Review
High quality finish and a second stick that changes everything!
Even more than the PSP, the PlayStation Vita looks great. The large screen of 5 inches which is flush with the surface under a glass sheet is to much there. Generally, the finish of the machine suffers no criticism, everything is perfectly adjusted. However, the doors that conceal the locations (gaming cartridges, the accessory port and memory card) are made of flexible plastic that inspires less confidence. A stiffer valve system would have been more convincing.

2 volume knobs, the port dedicated to accessories, one for game cartridges and the power button.
The PS Vita games are meanwhile available on physical media through small cartridges format close to that of an SD card.

Incidentally, the Vita only use memory cards in a proprietary format, sold at exorbitant prices! A solution to limit piracy which unfortunately penalizes players - who will board the card foul cash comes with the console.
PS Vita Stick 140x200pxGros highlight of the Vita, its true 2 analog sticks provide undeniable comfort for games for the third or first person, when necessary direct the camera to direct or aim. Only their small size can be a problem since they require utmost care in handling. They still remain rather accurate.
We invite you to consult our detailed impressions on the ergonomics of the PS Vita, compared to PSP, 3DS and DualShock 3 (PS3).
A simple interface typical smartphone
This is now a classic, the organization of the interface is based on a system of icons, one per application and up to 10 simultaneously on the screen. In the manner of a smarphone, you can scroll through the up and down pages and arrange the games and applications as we see fit. Simple and practical.
Multitasking, the PS Vita can run multiple applications simultaneously. They are then accessible on multiple pages, organized horizontally like the leaves of a book.
PS Vita Interface
An inspired smartphone interface, simple, classic and effective.
The PlayStation Vita also serves audio and video player and can recover the contents of a PC or PS3. Connectivity it is rather pushed to the point that some games are both compatible Vita and PS3.
Question connectivity, 3G version also makes it possible to enjoy the community features of the Vita, especially to find other nearby players we use social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare) and instant messaging, or view trophies earned in games. Note that 3G is not designed to play directly into the network, it must pass through the Wi-Fi for this. Its utility therefore seems relative, especially given the high price of 3G services offered at present. A smartphone will still be more suitable for these purposes, including to browse the Internet.
The picture portion is provided by two sensors, one at the front and the other at the rear. The second quality is logically higher but remains fairly average and far from the quality of a compact camera or even a high-end smartphone from Sony, which is disappointing. However, this is sufficient to ensure adequate quality games in augmented reality.
Limited autonomy but honorable
While it is certainly the biggest weakness of its competitor, the Nintendo 3DS, the autonomy of the PS Vita seems quite correct. Our first test with the game Uncharted Golden Abyss (in game, not rotating demo), with brightness and volume set at mid-level as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth disabled, gives us all the same 5:35 autonomy . Without being particularly outstanding is, it is still satisfactory considering on-board equipment. In equivalent terms, the 3DS takes 1h30 least in the best cases.
Sony has already raised the possibility of commercializing an external battery for your console.
See you very soon on The Digital for the first game testing PlayStation Vita.
Smartphones in ambush
Buried by some to have lived before, the PS Vita is facing the strong growth of the game on smartphones and tablets. A threat that Sony has taken very seriously to adapt its strategy. Rather than play on the same table, namely the very public game, fast and cheap, Sony has staked everything on an audience of savvy players. Despite a total touch compatibility, the PS Vita therefore offers real buttons and 2 analog sticks that are desperately needed in any smartphone or tablet. What offer a gaming experience similar to that offered by home consoles.
Of course, everything will play on the next catalog of games on the console. She will have to prove himself and keep the support of third party publishers hope to last over time. Indeed, his only graphics power is not enough to cope with smartphones increasingly powerful and close architecture (the components used on the Vita are similar).
